Trauma Therapy in Toronto

Healing from Trauma

Trauma can have lasting effects on how we think, feel, and relate to others. Many people notice ongoing anxiety, intrusive memories, emotional numbness, difficulty trusting others, or a sense of being constantly on edge after difficult experiences.

As a Toronto-based therapist, I provide trauma-informed therapy to help clients process painful experiences and begin to feel safer, more grounded, and more in control of their lives.

I work with adults navigating the effects of childhood trauma, relational trauma, PTSD, and other difficult life experiences. Trauma can arise from many situations, including painful relationships, neglect, loss, accidents, medical events, or overwhelming experiences that left you feeling powerless or unsafe.

How Trauma Can Show Up in Daily Life

Many people assume trauma only refers to extreme events, but trauma can also develop through ongoing experiences that felt overwhelming, unsafe, or emotionally painful.

You may notice the effects of trauma showing up in ways such as:

feeling constantly on edge or easily startled

difficulty trusting others or feeling safe in relationships

intrusive memories or thoughts about past experiences

emotional numbness or feeling disconnected from yourself

strong emotional reactions that feel difficult to regulate

repeating patterns in relationships that feel hard to change

These responses are often the nervous system’s attempt to protect you after difficult experiences. In therapy, we work to understand these patterns with compassion and develop ways to help your mind and body feel safer again.

A Trauma-Informed Approach to Therapy

Trauma can affect both the mind and body. Therapy focuses on helping your nervous system regain a sense of safety while gradually processing difficult experiences in a supportive and manageable way.

In our work together, we move at a pace that feels comfortable and respectful of your readiness. Therapy may involve developing skills to manage emotional overwhelm, understanding how past experiences influence current patterns, and building new ways of responding to stress and relationships.

My approach integrates evidence-based therapies including Internal Family Systems, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, somatic, and other trauma-informed approaches that support emotional regulation, resilience, and long-term healing.

Specialized Training in Trauma Treatment

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) and have specialized training in working with trauma and post-traumatic stress. This training informs a therapy approach that prioritizes safety, collaboration, and respect for each client’s pace and individual experiences.

Trauma therapy can help clients:

understand how trauma affects thoughts, emotions, and the body

reduce anxiety, hypervigilance, and emotional overwhelm

process difficult memories in a supportive therapeutic environment

rebuild a sense of safety, trust, and self-compassion

strengthen relationships and overall well-being.

Types of Trauma I Work With

Trauma can take many forms. I work with clients experiencing the effects of:

childhood trauma and neglect

relational or attachment trauma

emotional, physical and sexual abuse

PTSD and post-traumatic stress symptoms

medical or health-related trauma

grief, loss, and overwhelming life events

Each person’s experience of trauma is unique, and therapy is tailored to your individual needs and goals.
